Why in your opinion is Atlanta always good? It seems like no team has this much sustained success? Also why are teams not poaching members of their front office? That seems like where their strength is really coming from
Smart front office. They draft well, and they develop well. They bring players to the majors, and they’re ready to make an immediate impact. They have a great organizational culture. Team-first. Accountability. High standards. They have a great manager and a great veteran coaching staff. They play the game the right way. Their front office is disciplined. The way they’ve locked up all of their core players is a masterclass.
I could go on.
I actually talked about this on the air at one point last season. I said if I bought a team, I would raid 2 front offices: Tampa Bay and Atlanta.
Great peace as always. What are your thoughts on my New York Yankees losing the first season series to Minnesota since 2001 they have a lot of injuries but as somebody who used to work in baseball at the broadcasting level how much stock do you put into what a team does now
The Yankees need to get healthy. Brutally tough division. Can’t afford to dig too big a hole because Rays, Jays and O’s are going to be there all year.
I wouldn’t worry about the season series against the Twins. That was a crazy streak, but it was going to end at some point.
How much stock do I put in the early part of the season? Wins and losses count the same as in September. But it’s a long year. The best teams are fine over 162. I wouldn’t panic if I were the Yankees, and I wouldn’t start printing playoff tickets if I were the Pirates.
