POLL: How do you feel about the Marlins?
VFTB takes a highly scientific look at the mood of Marlins Nation at the start of Spring Training
The Marlins in 2024 have a chance to do something that’s never been achieved in franchise history: Reach the playoffs in consecutive seasons.
In the years after their first 3 trips to the playoffs, they followed up with a 54-108 record and a last-place finish in the NL East following a total teardown in 1998, an 83-79 record and a 3rd-place finish in 2004 and a 67-95 record and a 4th-place finish in 2021.
Bruce Sherman shook up the front office this offseason, but new president of baseball operations Peter Bendix has not yet begun to make his mark in a significant way on the Marlins’ roster, which returns largely in tact after a surprising 84-win campaign in 2023.
While no prominent bats or arms have been added, the 2024 Marlins will be without 2 key contributors to last year’s playoff run. 36-home run slugger Jorge Soler opted out of the final year of his contract and signed a 3-year free agent deal with the Giants, and 2022 Cy Young Award winner and rotation workhorse Sandy Alcantara will miss all of 2024 following Tommy John surgery.
While there could still be additions or subtractions between now and Opening Day, today we wanted to take the pulse of the fan base and see how you’re feeling at the start of the spring with this 10-question poll.

I felt the need to add something absent from the poll choices: this is by far the most talented and creative front office the Marlins have ever had, based on track record. They have hired several people who were directly involved with building great teams. Let’s give them a chance, especially since the leading decision makers are just being assembled. I know, I know….we are always supposed to be fretting and worrying. I plan to enjoy watching baseball.
With some of the injured players getting back on the roster in 2024, there's the possibility of a couple of surprises. If we had just a couple more decent hitters including one big bat, with a little luck, this club could do some damage.
