Having merely dipped their toes into free agent waters over the last 6 years, will Bruce Sherman's Marlins try to meaningfully fill roster holes through free agency any time soon?
Thank you, Bob. I actually wrote about Amaya a week or so ago. Of everyone in the organization today, he certainly seems like the first guy who deserves a shot. Great defense. Some power. Having a very solid year at Jacksonville. I’ve never seen him play, but looking at the numbers and hearing what some who’ve watched him think, I’m all for giving him an opportunity.
It’s scary how poorly they’ve done with positions players who they’ve drafted. Amaya was acquired in a trade. Same with Jazz, De La Cruz and Sanchez. They simply can’t draft and develop position players. And that’s a recent phenomenon. Stanton, Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto we’re all drafted or (in Ozuna’s case) signed internationally.
Great story Geff.
Great Article Glenn. You really do you homework. What are your thoughts on Jacob Amaya who is
currently with JAX the triple A Marlin Affiliate? He is having a stellar first couple of months at Jacksonville.

I agree. He is just about the only position prospect that is doing really well in the minors
so far this season. Hopefully it will continue.
