The updated news that the Marlins kicked in a significant amount of Arraez's salary really changes my perception from acceptable to iffy. But, we're stuck with it, of course.

I quit , as a diehard fan since 1993. The best thing moving forward would be for the franchise to move ! One pathetic owner after another . Fuckin clueless trades. Can’t take them anymore. Hopefully their attendance drops even lower. How can you support a team when its owner doesn’t ? Bye bye

I hate hearing things like this, but I'm hearing them over and over. So sad. But who could possibly argue with you.

I’m a diehard Yankee fan since 1960. Moved to ftlaud in 1978. Diehard Marlin fan since franchises inception rooted for Marlins in 2003 WS ..my family disowned me for a while. I watch almost every game. Not fair to fan base to dismantle the team every 5 years or so . I’m sick of it and Sherman and Bendix can go f themselves. I’ve had it . If this is how they operate the spineless Manfred should force them to sell. No wonder their attendance is almost always at the bottom. You endear yourself to the players etc and poof…..adios

Brutal.

I'm going to have to write something about this because I keep saying it to people individually. He's put himself in a position where he cannot sell the team. He grossly overpaid for the club ($1.6 billion, including assumed debt), and its value has declined on his watch. There's no way he could come close to even breaking even for himself and, more importantly, his partners, if he were to sell right now.

And there'll never be pressure from other owners to sell because they're happy to see potential competition flounder. You think the owner of the Rays wants to see the Marlins excite their fan base? You think any NL East owner hopes the Marlins become competitive overnight?

His only chance of selling would entail some kind of on-field miracle and a revival of the fan base. That doesn't seem likely.

And he can't move the team because they're locked in to a lease until 2047. Besides that, what has he done that would lead anyone to think he's capable of running a successful ML organization--or hiring the right people to run a successful ML organization--any where? His problem isn't geography.

All so true. As a fan I feel let down again . Pitchers are injured , I get that . But to trade one of the top 3 leadoff men and best contact and situational hitters in all of MLB is asinine. It only signals another Huzienga, Loria type fire sale. Can you imagine what this also signals to his teammates. ? Throw in the towel…. Trade me ! I want out. I love the game but once again this franchise spins around in nowhere land and as it seemingly gets better…..history repeats itself. We’ve been gut punched again. And as I said management can go fuck themselves ,

Thank you for explaining all of this. The situation is very sad. I used to love this team.

I'm having flashbacks of the Miguel Cabrera trade.

If most fans expected this, is the pushback residual anger, the result of the timing, rr because the haul of players from the Padres is unfamiliar/unacceptable/not immediately MLB-ready? I hear many fans that bring up the timing of the trade stating it should have been made in the offseason "when Arraez's value as 'higher'." N the same vent, "giving up this early" is cited.
