#6: SO NOW WHAT?
It is not hyperbole to suggest the hiring of Peter Bendix as president of baseball operations will, one way or another, define Bruce Sherman’s time as Marlins owner.
We years ago moved beyond the point where he can blame any of the Marlins’ on-field or off-field issues on previous owner Jeffrey Loria. Every player, every staff member, every front office executive in a position of authority and even every broadcaster Sherman inherited is long gone. And with the owner having cleaned house of almost every significant hire made on the watch of his hand-picked former CEO Derek Jeter—most recently severing ties with Kim Ng at the top of baseball operations—this is entirely Sherman’s baby.
Win or lose. For better, for worse. For richer, for poorer. In sickness and in health. Until death do y’all part.
