IT HAD BEEN A WHILE
As I wrote in Saturday’s Playoff Notebook, the Orioles were the only team in Major League Baseball to avoid being swept in a series of 3 or more games in 2023. So after winning an American League-best 101 regular season games, they were swept 3 straight by Bruce Bochy’s Rangers in the ALDS.
The O’s had played 91 multi-game series since the last time they were swept: May 13-15, 2022, a 3-game series in Detroit.
