3 former Marlins starting pitchers came up big in last week’s Wild Card series, helping their clubs advance.

  • Pablo Lopez beat the Blue Jays, 3-1, in Game 1 of the Twins’ Wild Card sweep. He limited the dangerous Toronto lineup to one run on 5 hits in 5 2/3 innings.

  • The following day, Nathan Eovaldi finished off the Rangers’ sweep of the Rays with a 7-1 victory. Eovaldi surrendered one run on 6 hits in 6 2/3 with no walks and 8 K’s.

  • That night, the D-Backs closed out their surprising sweep of the NL Central Brewers behind Zac Gallen. The righthander pitched 6 innings of 5-hit, 2-run ball.

The 3 Marlins alumni were a combined 3-0 with a 2.00 ERA in the opening round of the postseason.
