THE FALLOUT
There’s been a lot of national reaction to the news that Kim Ng will not return as Marlins general manager in 2024. Among the most notable pieces:
Jon Heyman of The New York Post: Marlins’ inexplicable Kim Ng decision left team in shambles.
Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic: Ng’s Marlins exit makes her even more impressive.
Here’s Ghiroli with more insight into the Ng-Bruce Sherman dynamic on the Foul Territory podcast:
Jay Jaffe broke down the highs and lows of Ng’s time with the Marlins on Fangraphs.
From Buster Olney of ESPN.com: “There are a lot of unhappy people.”
HEARING VOICES
Chad Jennings and Stephen J. Nesbitt of The Athletic combined on a terrific piece about the voices pitchers hear when they listen to PitchCom.
COOPERSTOWN CALLING?
Is Joe West a Hall of Famer? He worked more games than any umpire in ML history, and he’s one of 8 men on the Contemporary Baseball Era Committee’s 2024 Hall of Fame ballot of managers, executives and umpires, which—among others—also includes 1997 Marlins World Series championship-winning manager Jim Leyland. The vote will be held at the Winter Meetings in Nashville December 3. Anyone elected by the committee will join any players voted in on the BBWAA players ballot in the Cooperstown Class of 2024.

ICYMI
In case you didn’t check out VFTB daily, here’s what you missed this past week:
The man who pulled off one of the biggest steals in ML history with the Red Sox is now piling up wins for the Dodgers.
In part 4 of our series of 10 Burning Questions facing the Marlins this offseason, we looked at who might be the club’s next chief of baseball operations.
If you were surprised to see Kim Ng depart the Marlins, you shouldn’t have been.

Ms. Obvious Ghiroli 🤣🤣🤣. She doesn't need to wear a placard with her agenda.
