I was so curious when I was listening to the radio broadcast today why there was no color analyst. I assumed that the scheduled color guy might’ve caught a cold or something like that, but they straight-up just didn’t have anyone to do it. I would be so sad if they get rid of the radio broadcast or if they simulcast. They probably will unfortunately, at least any time before I would be old enough to become the Marlins radio broadcaster.
Sadly, their priority isn't providing fans the best product possible but instead how they can save money. They're in the final year of their contract with the radio station, so they were obligated to broadcast the games on radio this year. Next year, all bets are off. We'll see. Hopefully they do the right thing.
I was trying to listen to the radio broadcast on MLB.com of the first game of the doubleheader. I know it’s in a rain delay. There’s absolutely nothing on the Marlins broadcast but something on Cleveland’s side. I guess that’s because there is only one broadcaster for the Marlins.
I don’t like the politics of baseball. I know it’s always been this way, but I would like good people to keep their jobs when they are doing well in that job. I miss you. I wish people could be kinder to one another.
Thanks, Jackie. I don’t think I’m being optimistic or pessimistic though. I’m just laying out facts. The fact here is that the Marlins have a very easy stretch of schedule coming up. Time will tell whether or not they can take advantage of that. It would be a huge missed opportunity if they can’t.
You know me well enough by now to know that I am a big fan of radio called baseball and I loved that part of your conversation with @RyanSchlesinger about radio broadcasting. Marlins continue to be fan tone deaf in so many areas.
I was so happy to hear Ryan express his passion for radio. You don’t hear that often from young, aspiring broadcasters these days. If nothing else, merely cutting your teeth in radio makes you better doing TV in the long run.
In spring training 2022 I took my 2 grandsons to what was supposed to be an open practice but when I got there it was closed and I posted a picture of me and my disappointed grandsons on twitter. Jason Latimer promised to make good. I told him that all my grandsons were going to be the game in a suite for my special birthday which turned out to be Opening Day. It would have been so easy for him to make good and make all my grandsons happy. But nope. I was disappointed to say the least but I’m not a fan.
Sorry to hear about your experience with Latimer. Sadly, there are a lot of stories like that and a lot of people who see through him. Included in that group are people who have to grin and bear it because they work for him or, in some way rely on him for access and information.
The guy has made a lot of promises he hasn’t kept over the years. The problem is the people above him either don’t see him for what he is or, worse yet, don’t care or are OK with it.
I wrote yesterday about great leaders being smart enough to know what they don’t know and confident enough to surround themselves with people who are experts in those areas. The Marlins could use a healthy dose of that wisdom at the highest levels on the business side.
The number of great fans like you I’ve heard from who have said similar things makes me really sad. Everyone has a different story to tell, but they’re all sad. Hopefully someone will see the light and begin to fix some of this mess soon.
You know me very well, through Radio and social networks we have created what I consider a beautiful friendship. You know very well that I am a huge fan of the Marlins and it is largely thanks to you (Felo, Manolo, Angel, Dave and you) and the Radio, that is why I feel that those responsible have taken something very precious from me, always thinking only in the money no matter what, or what, they go over. Hopefully and at some point they try to rectify.
The problem is they’d have to think it is important to care enough to rectify. The way they’ve let things fall apart, right down to not having an analyst this weekend, shows how little they even care about radio or the fans who want to listen.

Thank you for optimism. It means a lot.

While I have your atttention-what’s the situation I with Iglesias:? Why didn’t they try to bring him up?
Ouch.
Right now I not has interesting in the Marlins Games for 1st time since 1993.

What a massive disaster with the Radio. What a shame
It all started publicly with how they treated Dave. A Hall of Famer deserves a lot better.
Totally Agree, another big disaster and shame
