As we race down the home stretch of the 2023 seasons, here’s one statistic about each of the 15 National League clubs. We’ll check in on the American League tomorrow.

NL EAST

Atlanta Braves: Matt Olson’s current run of 441 consecutive games played dating to May 2, 2021 is the longest active iron man streak in MLB.

With Ronald Acuña Jr. also having appeared in every game the Braves have played this season, Atlanta has a chance to have 2 players play in 162 games in the same season for the 3rd time since 2018. In that span, the Royals are the only other team to have 2 players go wire-to-wire in a 162-game season even once. In 2018, Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis played all 162 for the Braves. Olson and Dansby Swanson turned the trick last year.

Here are the 6 players in MLB that have a chance to play in 162 this season, with only Olson a possible repeat from 2021.

  • Ronald Acuña Jr., ATL

  • Freddie Freeman, LAD

  • Matt Olson, ATL

  • Marcus Semien, TEX

  • Juan Soto, SD

  • Eugenio Suarez, SEA

Miami Marlins: Currently hitting a major league-best .348, Luis Arraez has a chance to finish the season with the highest batting average by a qualifying player in Marlins history.

  • Luis Arraez .348 (2023)

  • Hanley Ramirez .342 (2009)…NL Batting Champion

  • Miguel Cabrera .339 (2006)

  • Luis Castillo .334 (2000)

  • Dee Gordon .333 (2015)…NL Batting Champion

9 points ahead of Freddie Freeman in the race for the NL batting title, Arraez could become the 3rd batting champion in club history, joining Hanley Ramirez (2009) and Dee Gordon (2015).

7 points ahead of the Rangers’ Corey Seager for the highest average in the majors, Arraez could become the first Marlin ever to lead all of MLB in batting average.

New York Mets: After winning 101 games last season, the Mets have only 66 wins with 18 games to play. Their current 35-victory drop off from last year to this year is the largest in MLB

  • Mets 35 (down from 101)

  • Cardinals 29 (down from 93)

  • Yankees 26 (down from 99)

  • White Sox 25 (down from 81)

  • Astros 24 (down from 106)

  • Guardians 23 (down from 92)

  • Dodgers 23 (down from 111)

  • Padres 21 (down from 89)

  • Royals 20 (down from 65)
