The Texas Rangers have the 2nd-best record in the major leagues, and they’re being led on the mound by former Marlin Nathan Eovaldi.
Still only 33 but in his 12th big league season, Eovaldi is 8-2 with a 2.24 ERA in 12 starts. He’s one behind Tampa Bay’s Shane McClanahan for the ML lead in victories and leads the AL in innings pitched. The righthander ranks 6th in all of baseball in ERA. His 0.93 WHIP is 2nd in MLB behind only Tyler Wells of the Orioles, and Eovaldi is the only pitcher in the majors with a pair of complete games thus far in 2023. No other team has 2 complete games this season, and 17 of the 30 clubs don’t have any.
“I feel like I’m really locked in,” Eovaldi said. “We’re staying on top of the mechanics and the little things and making sure we’re doing the (daily) work.”
