After 31 seasons in the Game, the last 15 as a radio voice of the Marlins, this Opening Day will be different for me. And while I won’t be at a ballpark on Opening Day for the first time in more than three decades, I still have a lot to say about the Marlins and Major League Baseball.
I may have given up my seat in the radio booth, but in some respects, I now have a better—more unfiltered—view of the team and the game.
Welcome to VIEW FROM THE BLEACHERS.
As the 2023 season plays out, I look forward to sharing my perspectives on the Marlins and all of Major League Baseball via this Substack.
This will be a place for me to share the kind of information I regularly brought to the broadcast that I know many listeners appreciated. There’ll be angles, anecdotes, personal perspective, opinions, features and (cover your eyes, Jason Latimer) statistical information you won’t get anywhere else.
There’ll be an honest look at what the Marlins are doing both on and off the field. I’ll cut through the spin and tell you the truth about what’s happening with the organization, the good…the bad…and the Yelich trade.
Along the way, I look forward to hearing from you. Among other benefits, paid subscribers can share comments and questions that will help steer the season-long discussion. And I look forward to coming up with creative ways to interact with fans throughout the year.
So, as the great Vin Scully would say, pull up a chair.
Let’s enjoy the 2023 season together. It’s time to play ball!
Wonderful Idea, Part of my passion for the Marlins is thanks to the tremendous work of Joe Angel, Dave Van Horne and you. Now I see this news of yours and it really makes me very happy.
Thrilled to support you on this journey, Geff!
