FISH TALES
GIVE ME 5…AGAIN: Miami’s Luis Arraez collected his major league-leading 3rd 5-hit game of the season last night. The 3 5-hit games are a single-season Marlins record with more than half of a season still to play. Juan Pierre had 2 in 2005. They are also a career Marlins record. Pierre and Gary Sheffield are the only other Marlins with as many as 2 5-hit games during their time in Miami. There have now been a total of 22 5-hit games in Marlins history.
Only 4 players in AL/NL history have had 4 games with 5 or more hits in a season: Ty Cobb (1922), Stan Musial (1948), Tony Gwynn (1993) and Ichiro Suzuki (2004). Arraez is one of 17 others with 3 in a single season (last: Ender Inciarte for the Braves in 2017).
