STANTON 6 YEARS LATER
It’s hard to believe it’s been 6 years since Giancarlo Stanton’s 59-home run MVP season for the Marlins. And it’s been 6 years since the most prolific power hitter in franchise history was shipped off to the Yankees by new ownership to shed $265 million worth of contractual commitment.
If you think back to the time of the trade, it was easy to envision Stanton putting up even bigger numbers in New York than he had posted in Miami. As a Yankee, he’d move to a much more hitter-friendly home ballpark, and he’d be stepping into a deeper lineup, one that featured the other top slugger in the game at the time, Aaron Judge.
